Tomorrow is the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict on 19 June.

In 2009, Dalanda was forced to experience the tragic events of the September 28 Massacre in Conakry stadium, including killings and rapes by armed forces. She then spent all her money in her medical treatment.

Today, she benefits from interim reparations and runs a small soap factory. She now has apprentices and plans to extend her working space further: “Now I want a big space… because I am confident about my work”. She also tells other women to have courage.

Reparations are a right to every survivor of Conflict-Related Sexual Violence.

It is time we end impunity for perpetrators and provide survivors with the justice and recognition that they deserve.
