In May 2024, Ukraine, together with the Global Survivors Fund and civil society partners, launched a landmark pilot project on Urgent Interim Reparation for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence.
In just over a year, more than 1,200 survivors have come forward, with over 600 receiving urgent interim compensation as well as psychosocial and legal support – demonstrating that meaningful remedies can be delivered even amidst ongoing conflict. The Pilot has not only provided life-changing reparative measures to survivors, but also laid the groundwork for the adoption of Law 4067, establishing urgent interim reparation and broader protection measures in national legislation.
This event will highlight lessons from the Pilot Project and amplify the voices of survivors, while exploring the next steps as Ukraine defines the modalities of reparation established by the law, sets up its institutional framework and secures funding.
